Year 2008 Term 2 Week 3 Day 1 (31 March)

Yawn... shan't talk about the sad stuff and things about teachers...

Tomorrow's council elections! Must vote for Mui Suan and Yisheng ok? Make sure they get into council, else the maths lecture and PE lesson sacrifice won't be worthwhile... and I want to be welfare rep...

Econs lecture was more fun today for some I guess... somehow everything has relevance to Joel... think i'll write about it in crapbook tmr during council elections Q & A, cos that's gonna be damn boring...

O yes, I would like to do some personal attacks too, since I love it (i'm sure you'll agree with my arguments)... Apparently "certain" faculties have a very nice way of campaigning... like causing people to accidentally release *ahem* RED balloons into the sky? It's quite dumb really... And please, people who take the balloons, tie them down properly...

And a special request from a few council nominees...

Vote for Daoyuan from 08S69 and Jason Lee from 08S63! That's all, shall keep it to 1 sentence... Anyway, I also received a lot of bubble gum from them, so anyone who wants 1 (or more) just take from me...

Ah yes, for those who desperately need to pass their NAPFA test (for chin-ups/IPU especially), some of us are frequenting the pull-up bars at the side gate of the college section, those who are interested, please join us!

And... watch out for my group's Schrodinger presentation on Friday! We'll ensure you experience both the highest and lowest adrenalin rush for the day...

That's all!

Jackie (just in case some people read about the balloons thingy)

Seondly, Purple Comet! Mr Chan has emailed me to say that the Maths department will be informing the teachers so that we'll be excused from lessons! YAY!!! But I think we have to settle the problem of make-up prac...

That's all! For now...

Year 2008 Term 2 Week 2 Day 5 (28 March): More updates + Sports Meet info

OK... so a lot of queer things happened today... the crapbook and things like that... actually physics quite boring, other than the part about "enerzies"...

And to clarify Mui Suan's questions, I'm the one that Sean covered, nice one sia Mister X, call me Jian Hua... and I sent the paper down... and most importantly, CRAPBOOK IS NOW SAFE WITH ME... By the way can someone finally officially announce who Mister X is? Just end it all and embarrass him thoroughly... And physics olympiad finally doesn't clash with our timetables... but Purple Comet still does, so i guess you guys just sign up 1st then see how...

Ok, more important stuff: Annual Combined Track & Field Meet 2008
I'll be indicating only events that people in the class have signed up for thus far.

For those mentioned above, please remember to turn up punctually in appropriate attire (ie. PE T-shirt + "miniskirt"), and you DIE-DIE MUST TURN UP once you sign up, as no substitution is allowed.

For those still interested to sign up for more races or drop out after my scary words, please do so BY EARLY MONDAY, as it is the closing date for entries. Look for me or Yuqun (should be me, since I'll be hogging on to the form). Appeals to kick out more inferior members in relay races are also entertained, but please don't tell me to kick the girls out unless you are called Xiaomin. Also, be reminded that you can sign up for a maximum of only 2 individual events.

By the way, the more we participate, the more points we get (even if we get last), so you are highly encouraged to sign up and appear at the right time at the right place (ie. the high school track) and enjoy your run... (Tip: to shorten your suffering yet earn the points, sign up for 100m and 200m, you'll feel zibei but we may win in the end)

So, all the best everyone! Happy mugging!

Jia Guang

PS. Yes I'm joining 4 events...

Mystery of the Lost Crapbook

WE LOST OUR CRAPBOOK!!!

Math lecture. as usual, i asked jackie for crapbook.. wanted to start a new n-word essay. then jackie said, CRAPBOOK NOT WITH ME!

irresponsible crapbook rep w/o crapbook. asked around and nobody knew where's our book. welfare rep had to do something abt it... continued asking everyone, but still nobody knows.

After seeing how distressed the ppl behind him were, supreme dictator couldnt take it anymore & decided to do something. Supreme Dictator transformed into a Super Detective and started the hunt for the missing crapbook.

SD tried to track down where the crapbook went. He questioned the whole class by passing down a tiny slip of paper full of questions. crapbook was last spotted in the hands of zhi hui/yu qun in LT3 during SMTP enrichment.

apparently, zhi hui or yu qun had the book. they passed it to ppl in front of them, whom they dubbed "the Schrodinger grp". jackie's in the grp and claims he does not have the book...someone in the grp passed it to yisheng..(no more space left on tiny slip of paper, SD attached another similarly tiny slip of paper)

yisheng said he passed it to yu qun/zhi hui. zhi hui said he dunno and passed the slip of paper to yu qun who said: ask zhi hui. welfare rep was sitting between them and cant take it anymore.. told SD to give up the search since the questioning is going round in circles.. someone then wrote on the paper to "check your own bags!"

despite the checks and questioning, crapbook was nowhere to be found. we were wondering if 6H took our book yesterday.. anyway welfare rep landed in a state of depression. couldnt pay attention during the lecture anymore.. started to mourn for the loss (demise) of our beloved crapbook..

on the way to audi for phy lecture, SD asked welfare rep if we should get new crapbook.. sigh. definitely need to get one if we cant find it. lost the crapbook, cant afford to lose the 6K TRADITION AND CULTURE.. welfare rep felt very sad and walked to audi in despair.

in the audi, as SD and welfare rep settled down in front of crapbook rep, we spotted something. CRAPBOOK REP IS HOLDING ON TO THE CRAPBOOK!!! miracles do happen. apparently, someone from 6N passed it to us.. crapbook was left in LT 3 after SMTP lessons ended yesterday.. that also suggests that 6N had read the crap inside the book..

oh well, at least we got our book back. SD immediately wrote a new rule on the book.. a fine will be imposed on anyone who fails to return the book to jackie.. SD attached the 2 tiny slips of paper onto the book as well.. hope the book didnt feel cold and alone in the LT yesterday... what an EXHILARATING JOURNEY for the crapbook. fingers crossed that such misadventures will not happen again..

Mystery solved!

PHOTOS for 27 March

Ah here they are...
Fish Tank and Joel, what do you think of? FOOD!Eating...
And eating... Still doesn't realize he's lost his "virginity"... Eh that hand and phone looks familiar...

Ah he finally realized...

Oh no he's threatening people now... And the portrait behind looks disgusting...

Gotcha 1 more photo. Guess what? HE'S STILL EATING!

I pity Xinyi, every time we take pics of Joel she's in it too...

Ok enough of Joel, let's move on...

I risked my life to take this 1 during GP... that's Wei Zhong by the way...

Zhi Hui fighting for a place in the picture...

The GP rep is as shocked as ever... The photo looks bad, apparently mister X here needs to sign up for a photography course...
Bad boy Sean... By the way mister X reckoned this guy here was Jian Hua... Can someone slap mister X please? This guy here is right-handed...
Yongquan says since he stuck out 2 fingers in his last photo here, now he shall stick 4 fingers out...EEE WHO FARTED?! Mmm nonchalant look, I know who liao...
Erm... that's how 无聊 mister X is... even Jian Hua is stunned... Mister X thinks this group had a very bad presentation day... kena bombarded by tutors sigh...

And for reasons best known to himself, he thinks I'm damn hot... Or maybe I AM that hot...
THAT'S ALL FOR TODAY!

Year 2008 Term 2 Week 2 Day 4 (27 March)

Hmm... good news, bad news, lots of lameness, and lots of frustration... Mmm I shall start with the bad things 1st...

Firstly, Physics Olympiad. FOR THE 4TH TIME, the timing clashes with my timetable. 1st it clashes with SMTP enrichment, then it clashes with CCA, then came rumours that it may be on saturday, which clashes with my SIMO national team training, now it clashes with Prof Xu's training. Now it's on mondays, 5pm to 7pm. People from Prof Xu's Maths Olympiad training, which is more important? I hope you are complaining, that's how bad things are... Some kind soul please let me read whatever you collect from there...

Secondly, Purple Comet. I understand that there are lots of people from 6K participating, but as you all know, it clashes (again) with physics prac on thursday. So, I have emailed Mr Chan (that's the VP) for permission to be excused from lessons during that period, hope he grants permission... If not, oh well... it's all the admin's fault... High School free on Thursday (my foot, they were free on wednesday the past 2 years), College free on Wednesday, so troublesome, then why IP must merge schools under the same name? Nothing but trouble right? Honestly when I tell people I'm from Hwa Chong INSTITUTION they don't have the slightest idea what the *********** I am talking about...

Thankfully, life is not that bad yet, or else I'll be tearing out whatever hair I have left on my head...

I think the whole class caught some laughing and lameness syndrome today, laughing over everything and saying all kinds of lame stuff and doing all kinds of lame things... Got a bit too high after holiday I guess...

1st tutorial: Chemistry
Mrs Tham was talking to us about the seriousness of cheating in SPA and exams... then the projector/visualizer (whatever you call it) broke down... Mrs Tham say even the projector recognizes the importance... HAHAHA... She also complimented us, say we very 乖, never make a lot of noise during lecture, so new seating arrangement can seat at the back... and our dear welfare rep happily asked to seat at the red seats in the audi... so caring sia... And Mrs Tham also say we still very 乖, got do the COMPULSORY pre-lecture quiz 5 (save for a few)... so the welfare rep (again) thought that she was implying pre-lecture quiz 6 was not compulsory anymore... very funny Mui Suan... but i like=)

2nd tutorial: Maths
Nothing much actually, but I shan't talk about what Mr Yeo said, lest i flare up about Purple Comet again...

3rd tutorial: GP
The most interesting of the day, it seems like we got a bit too high and started laughing for no reason... and people around my table seem to love prefixes and suffixes a lot... I saw Mui Suan getting very excited when Ms Lim was approaching the prefix "post-"... the moment Ms Lim said the word, a voice erupted, "POSTMAN!" *faint*
O ya sorry Shizhi, for over-enthusiastically announcing your arrival in E204 by shouting “实之驾到” while you were hunching to avoid getting seen...
Also, a suggestion from our lovely welfare rep to our equally lovely CT Rep: You should write all your essays out next time, since Ms Lim likes your handwriting so much...
And don't forget, a person who cooks is called a "cook", not a "cooker"... Mui Suan needs to buy the grammar book too I guess...
Oh I almost forgot, photos! We had to "collect words" at fish tank today (winner gets a free drink from fish tank, but no thanks, a drink from a fish tank probably contains ammonia and poo excreted by fishes), so some of us automatically whipped out our phones to take photos... Most of them provided by an anonymous source who wishes to remain anonymous but I don't think he/she is that anonymous anymore... Nevertheless, let's call this person X... O ya there's something wrong with my com, shall post the pics next time...

Lecture: Chemistry
We were told to nod head or shake head to answer questions... so... I came up with a little lame storyline...
"When Mrs Tham asked us if methane was polar, I happened to wake up from my sleep... I felt groggy so I shook my head... Then when she asked us if ammonia was polar, I started to fall asleep again... so my head went nod nod..."
As for London forces...
"London forces were named after this guy called London. As London was a very fat and heavy man, when he crossed a bridge, the bridge collapsed... that's why now we have a song called 'London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down..."
And Mister X also told the whole class to raise their hands when Mrs Tham asked a question and told us to pick the correct choice. We obeyed Mister X, and it turns out he was wrong... OOPS and we were from SMTP...
Lastly, since we didn't have time to do the think-pair-share exercise, we were told to 'go home and THINK, then PAIR with your friend and SHARE..."

That's all!

JaCkIe

Breakfast brawl

Hey guys and gals,

Just a reminder: BREAKFAST BRAWL TOMORROW! 7am. Canteen. Presumably.
I'm not sure whether the breakfast brawl has the slightest connection with an all-out inter-ct warring fist-fighting extravaganza...but at least there's food!

Remember to go! (Before all the lovely donuts are gobbled up and you lament on being ripped-off of your one dollar).

Indeed, what better time is there than to spend thirty minutes of our morning as a class, gaping at each other wolf down a dozen tori of savoury deef-fried batter?

See ya tomorrow!

Your blogging rep speaks again

Hi (again) everyone! Mmm looks like this place is suddenly full of life after what happened during a certain period of the day yesterday... I shan't hint too much about what I'm getting at...

Ok... Like Mui Suan said... my maths rox... hehheh... anyone wants to execute my plan though? I think Mr Rameshon may eat Yuqun up the way Yuqun eats Ramly burgers if he tries to do it...

Regarding scandals... Ok la, shall be frank about it, I saw Xiaomin and Hongxin hanging around at fish tank and library yesterday mugging... Anyway that's not scandalish enough la... And about why teachers don't post on our tagboard... I thought real ones would be more interesting than scandals...

And to add on about yesterday... a shocking (and yet not so shocking, since we are SMTP elite class) 80+++% of the class turned up for chem olympiad selection test... and i distinctly heard at least 2 people complaining they didn't have time to finish it... They actually know how to do it! OMG!!!

And AMC-12 scores, I saw quite a few, but I forgot about the existence of my handphone camera and my brain wasn't working quite right, so I only remember these scores...

Shizhi: 121.5 (topped J1 I think)
ME!!! : 115.5 (Damn I careless)
Hongxin: 115.5 (Pro sia)
Xiaomin: 114 (Both so pro, no wonder mugging together... hehheh...)
Yongquan: Estimated to be 111 or 112.5
Wei Zhong: 108 (Did all 25, but got 7 wrong? Hehheh not likely)
Jianlin:108 I think
Yuhan: 111? 112.5? Sorry I forgot
Yuting: 108 I think, I remember 3 people got 108
Zhao Dan: 103.5? 105? Not sure, whatever it is, you're in AIME
Jia Jun, Xinyi, Haoyang: 97.5
Zhe Wei: 94.5 (I'm never wrong, he missed by 1 damn question)
Mui Suan: 91.5 (I got a reminder from her that she missed by 1 question too)
Sean: 90
Langston: 85.5
Yuqun: 82.5 (meanwhile I shall niao him a bit more, for finishing 18th out of 18 of the participants from out class)

And the top goes to... Wei Quan! 130.5! Oops haven't hit Professor Wang Tengyao's score yet...
Anyway, *oops oops* 22 people (including senior class) out of 87 AIME qualifiers were from 6K! YAY!!! That's more than 25%! 6K ah very good ah very good ah 6K ah...

People shortlisted for SRP:
ME!!! (like duh haha *ego*)
Yuting
Zhi Hui
Wei Yang
Zhe Wei
Langston
Jeremy
Jian Hua
Shizhi
And once again, we own the rest... I'm loving this class sia...

Purple comet, must sign up ok? Hopefully we can send enough teams in to own everyone else... but the timing sux again, thursday 2 to 4pm clashes with our weekly physics prac... mrs loh won't like this... Just imagine, half the class disappears halfway through her prac...

Physics Olympiad, the timing just gets worse and worse, now it could be on Friday 4-6pm, does that mean I don't have to turn up for Chess & Bridge anymore? And I already signed up for both...

Anyway, enjoy wednesday! While you still can...

Economics & Joel

The class blog rep/chem rep speaks again

Sigh... Term 3 Week 2 Day 1...

Anyway, I think today was nice, we experienced what to do when our tutors were on MC... but why would anyone want to eat at 9? Strange...

I pity Mrs Tham, everyone like bullying her like that... sigh... I should do something right? since i'm the chem rep... maybe shout out in the middle of the lecture to shut everyone's mouths eh? Hmm... it seems effective for a short while actually...

Econs lecture was ok too, Zhe Wei and I were busy writing applications of what Mr William Tan said today in the crapbook... for those who are interested, read it tomorrow... o ya may I know where's the crapbook now? Naughty Wei Zhong left it at the class bench and now it's gone...

And to criticize some things (else life won't be fun), apparently there's something wrong with the timing of either physics olympiad training or the SMTP enrichment... In case you guys haven't realized, they CLASH (like collision lidat haha)... and i thought the bulk (not referring to Joel) of the students should come from SMTP?

O yes, good luck for chem olympiad selection test tomorrow! and signing up for purple comet maths competition will be up on EMB soon, for those of you eager to join (or wish to just get into a team which has pro people), remember to keep a lookout!

Jackie

PS. Who wants to mug SMO during maths lecture tmr? I really can't listen on leh...

24/03=08

title is supposed to mean 24 march 08 and it happens that 24/03 is equal to 08.. shall not post abt sch work.. just wondering how many ppl actually visits this blog.. <50% of the class?? plus a few seniors... plus maybe some from 6h since they linked us to their blog.. oh well.. definitely not many ppl read this blog :(

anyway, i was jus thinking we should do GEMS this term.. before our block tests in term 3.. plus some ppl suggest doing a service learning project as a class.. so maybe we can all brainstorm for ideas and cip rep can be overall i/c..

jia you for chem o!! go sign up for phy o as well!! (though i still cant find it on isp...)

very nice welfare rep

The Dentist Silenced Me

i continued playing murderer..

Story master: "The sun has risen. Everybody wakes up. Something unfortunate happened to the welfare rep and she lost her voice."

AHH! who's the dentist that silenced me??? I LOST MY VOICE! and i cant find it. ok not 100% lost..but still v bad and i cant talk :(

2 possible reasons:
  1. i talked too much to the house owner during fac cip.. listening to her talk abt how her son committed suicide was too sad.. tried very hard to start a new conversation.. and lost my voice as a result
  2. jia guang and yu qun took that photo.. had to scream at them.. lost my voice as a result

oh well... now i really need STREPSILS --- WE GIVE YOU VOICE.

ok enough of crap.. shall post interesting photos.

"Darling I love U *MUACK*"

cheers!

see the monkey hanging at the back?

star-gazing....

latest fashion in town:

eh.. jackie trying to cheat?? no wonder always "die by default"

more photos are on e groups.. enjoy long break!!

i love 08s6k!!!

ps. no scandal btwn ct rep and welfare rep. since chem rep wants more class outings, CT rep and Welfare rep will always discuss and try to plan more activities.. sigh.. Chem rep and PE rep can join in the discussion too.. why choose to stay behind us to take photos only leh??? still wanna say got scandal... sigh... haha i'm not angry:)

Year 2008 Term 2 Week 1 Day 4 (20 March)

Mmm today is a long day... I shall start with Founder's Day 1st! A boring thing it was (can tell because Wei Zhong started cubing until he kena scolded again haha), but nevertheless honourable! Here are the people who won the awards:

Outstanding Student Awards
Jeremy (CT rep's name must come 1st haha)
Jian Hua (king mugger)
Yuhan
Shizhi
Jianlin
Best in Maths
ME!!!

Best in Physics
Wei Zhong

Best in Chemistry, Maths, English Literature, Integrated Humanities, All Round Excellence Award
YONGQUAN!!!
The principal even mentioned his name in his speech! And for a bit of randomness, I shall put his photo here!
Next up: CIP! Stupid organizers, didn't even tell some of us we were going to do painting again, damn... but it turned out quite slacky, though not as slack as... a CERTAIN portion of the class led by our lovely welfare rep... PLAYING MURDERER! And...Tsk tsk 17 years old liao still can't grow up...
Mui Suan plz upload more photos... thanks!
Anyway, after that, we went for dinner and played murderer again...

And on the way to dinner... someone took this...Mmm... the welfare rep tagging along beside the CT rep... what are they discussing about? HMM...

Lastly, AMC-12! Congratulations to the 13-strong who qualified for AIME! (by the way that's 52% of the class! And 100% of the PRCs qualified! YAY! We are 6K indeed...)
ME!!! (blogging rep's name obviously must come 1st)
Xiaomin
Shizhi
Zhao Dan
Haoyang
Xinyi
Yuhan
Jianlin
Hongxin
Yuting
Yongquan (again)
Wei Zhong
HO JIA JUN (SHOCKING SIA! Did you expect that? Sorry sia I niao you too much... but really very shocking...)

But let's not leave out the 5 poor big kiddies who didn't make it:
Zhe Wei (yet again... poor thing... I wouldn't be too surprised if he fell short of AIME qualification by only 2 marks or less)
Langston
Yuqun
Sean
Mui Suan

So that's 18 out of 25 who participated in AMC-12! 72% of the class! OMG!!!
Hope you all had fun today! Bye bye! I'm going off to "finish" (the actual word should be "start") GP essay...

Year 2008 Term 2 Week 1 Day 3 (19 March)

Hello I'm here again... I think it's easier to keep track of events posted up here with the date as title haha...

Anyway, today was... pretty boring... except for what mr yeo said:"Chem test on thursday, so what? You are in Science and Maths Talent Programme, not Chem and Maths Talent Programme, so maths is more important than chem, so our maths test can also be held on the same day!" Oh wow... Hope mrs tham doesn't kill me, i'm the chem rep...

Oh yes, I just remembered, Miss Lim made us laugh hehheh... about going to the toilet. So next time, if you want to leave the classroom, must say "may I go to the toilet please" instead of "can i go toilet please" ok? or, if you are feeling naughty, you can say "can i go toilet please? Of course I can, i have legs" and just scoot off to E206 or E207 before anyone says anything...

Also, just a gentle reminder, PLEASE remember to bring your cubes every day (if possible) because it's a very good form of entertainment, and of course, it would be a waste of money if you just buy it and don't learn to solve it... Hopefully, everyone who has a cube and learn how to solve it soon (by asking your dear CT mates of course, those who learnt how to solve it only after they entered JC all know the method which requires minimal brain power as no memorization is involved), and also hopefully, we can have cubing sessions during CT personal time... we haven't had that yet despite all my talk about it... besides, since mr yeo has already said that there will be cubing competiton during maths week, WE, AS 6K, SHOULD GO OWN EVERYONE ELSE IN THE SCHOOL (save for our seniors perhaps)! We shall grab all the prizes and show the whole school how pro we are! OK? Then, HOPEFULLY (again), they'll open categories for 2*2*2, 4*4*4, 5*5*5, 6*6*6, 7*7*7, pyraminx, megaminx, square-1, bla bla bla, and... hehheh... your lovely almost-bald chem rep will enter the fray himself to bring all the goodies back for the class... You dare to open the category, I dare to own everyone for that puzzle... i love puzzles...

Ok nothing much more to crap liao, all the best for physics test on 24th, chem olympiad selection test on 25th, chem and maths test and maths tutorials 1 to 7B on 27th, econs test on 31st, another maths test on 14th april, and everything else! 3 cheers to 6K!

(Guess who?)

fac cip

last minute reminders:
rmb to bring RAGS.

meet at sch canteen at 8am sharp in artemis extreme makeover shirt plus sch pants/skirt. u can change into bermudas/PE shorts and sandals in sch before leaving.

try not to bring too much stuff since there will be not much space in the unit.

those receiving awards, pls meet Xiaoyao outside Audi at 12pm

earliest dismissal time is 2pm. latest we need to finish is 5pm. cip hours will be counted accordingly.

we'll go for dinner together after fac cip =)

Monday's CT session

Dear 6Kers,

Once again I'm here to slow down the servers with MORE PHOTOS! Soon, this blog will have more pictures than the louvre.

We did badminton for CT period on Monday. Since it had been a particularly long while since we were able to spend time together as a class for CT period (hmmm I recall congregating in the far corner of the canteen persuading the class to munch up the leftover CNY goodies we had won for bench deco - something I still can't grapple with till today, given the fact that our origami had absolutely nothing to do with CNY whatsoever... nonetheless, free food is always very satisfactory...)

So...off we skipped on our merry way to the area outside the audi, with raquets in one hand and shuttlecocks in the other. Haha.

It was unfortunate that we were stopped by a teacher 15min before the end of the period, because apparently, there was a JC2 block test going on! And with a polite word of apology from our worthy PE rep, our game was concluded. (It turned out that the REAL hooligans were lurking upstairs...)

Hmm...

The following images are courtesy of Mui Suan, our in-house budding photographer!

What's up there?

random riddle

just realised there's alliteration in the title..

anyway, here goes:

Q: Can February march??

A: No... but April may.

Year 2008 Term 2 Week 1 Day 2 (18 March)

day 2 is a short day :)

PE was tiring though. intensive training for NAPFA. ok maybe not really that intensive. but floorball was FUN FUN FUN :) really looking forward to playing a full floorball game.. where the court is much bigger, and there are no boundaries.. of course more players too. playing on just one-third netball court is too small... but better than nothing.

physical exercise is good for the body.. need mental exercise to work the brain as well.

so today's crapbook helps us work out our brains.

activity 1: come up with a long list of nouns that starts with K. dunno how many there are now.. crap book not with me :(

activity 2: complete the 3-word essay. surprisingly, as a physics class, we still came up with a BIOLOGY essay.. abt the CHEMISTRY rep.

hmm, maybe we should start writing chem essay, physics essay or some math paper.. can write GP or econs essay as well. econs essay must include diagrams. better still, we should start on a 3-word CHINESE essay. must not lose touch with chinese even though we've taken o-levels.

.LIVING WITH PASSION. too bad crapbook not with me or jeremy.. cannot post our n-word essay to showcase our creativity, burning passion for words and most importantly, our class spirit and teamwork!!!

enjoy rest of this week!!!

ps. as the chem rep has kindly suggested more bonding sessions (with or w/o straws), hopefully the whole class can for for dinner together after fac cip!! =)

I LOVE 08S6K :)

Year 2008 Term 2 Week 1 Day 1 (17 March)

Teachers should show more respect to newly-joined members of the class comm you know... There seems to be lack of respect for the importance of the N-E-W CHEMISTRY REP when the 1st thing in the morning he is told to do is to collect straws for the class... not just that, instructions were to "collect 6 per person in the class"... so poor me started counting from 1 to 150, only to realize that i forgot to collect more for Joel when i rushed back to E205...

As for the even more poor thing N-E-W estate rep, his 1st job was to ensure that "everybody has shut down their computers" (OMG what kind of instruction is that) and to turn off aircon, lights, bla bla bla (was there a part about pushing in all the chairs? i hope not)... poor Langston... and i distinctly heard Jia Jun saying how fortunate he was to be reassigned the post of IT rep...

Also, something always seems to go wrong when the welfare rep and CT rep try to organize class bonding stuff... i'm not saying they are lousy, they Really REALLY R-O-C-K with the capital letter R and nothing but R, i can't love them more haha... (isn't it so? Landslide victories, the former got the most votes in the latest class elections, the latter was literally from PAP, no-fight-win...) but at JTS, not too many turned up, last week at huang cheng, gods (plural form mind you) "urinated" on us like they haven't emptied their bladders (if they have 1 that is) for years, and today, we were told to stop enjoying our CT personal time of badminton and "chapteh" due to C2 block test, sigh... how tough can their jobs be...

Nvm, enough of all that, today was actually ok (haha), at least we're back as a class after the holidays despite all the unfinished hw... also, since Mui Suan (or Mas Selamat, same initials, same height, only different gender, skin colour, hair... sorry Mui Suan) and PhD/post huangcheng depression/permanent head damage Yisheng are running for council, we should help them whenever they need us! YAY! And after they're in, hehheh... I can be welfare rep... no need to collect straws liao, now i collect indemnity forms... Zhe wei can collect the straws instead... mayb next time he'll end up collecting balls and sticks for building atomic models...

All the best for term 2! And whatever that may be coming up, physics chem econs tests, polage, crystal growing, SMO Open, purple comet, SIMC, anything and everything...

Monkey

PS. E306 stinks more than E206, goodness me...

The Ambiguous Watch

HELLO PEOPLE :D

Here is a lovely little problem for you to ponder over, if you've managed to finish all your holiday homework! I thought of it a short while back.

Last year, Yongquan went to Macau on holiday. Over there, he bought a watch, because it was retro and pretty. Unfortunately, because the watch is supposed to be retro and pretty, the watchmakers did away with the second hand, and the hour and minute hands are identical and indistinguishable. Many a time did Yongquan despair because he was confused when reading the time.

"Aha!" said Yongquan's mother, when he told her of his dilemma. "Notice that at say, three o'clock, one hand will be pointing straight at 12 and the other at 3. It then can only be three o'clock, because the alternative is meaningless. Using elimination of this variety, you should be able to tell the time with no problem at all!"

"But!" said Yongquan's father, who is sharp like a needle. "There are several moments in a day when the alternative configuration depicts a valid time. When that happens, you should ... just check the time on your mobile phone."

How many times in a day will both configurations of the hour and minute hand of the watch depict valid times, and what are they?

start of school

here goes the obligatory post by your new infocomm rep!

I hope you people had a really good rest in your one week holiday.

Whether you be sleeping at home, spamming xbox in your friend's house, mugging for tests 2 weeks away (!!!?) or getting killed by your seniors in your cca camp, Term 2 is just coming up in.. 1hour's time!

Recalling our first week of real jc life with lectures and tutorials, all of us would like rush to the library during every break to spam our tutorials, and most of us would get EVERYTHING completed by the 2nd day we receive our lecture notes (zomg).

thats S6K smtp class for you.

But its a good thing we all slacked down. to be frank, the only work i've done through the "holidays" was math and half a chem tutorial, and half econs tutorial 7B.
(rest assured tutors, the rest will be completed tmr morning)

And we even have time to bond together as a class, mass buying rubiks cube, one whole row of 6K people in the audi with a cube in their hands. whether it was these times training our finger strength, or the times we try to stay awake during GP lessons, you must admit we've all grown much closer as a class.

Thats 1/8th of JC life for you.

only 7/8th more to go! jiayou 6K! go get top in level for PCM and E! and GP and PW too!

More overdue photos

I've just examined my previous post...glad to see that the photos turned out...decent...

Here are the ones taken during cross country. Practically everyone was participating with maximum enthusiasm: running through the merry woodlands a la allegro con brio.

Just look at their happy faces :)

Who's that? Wondering where his cube is...

More photographical documentation. These were taken on the way to Marina Square before huangcheng last Sunday.

I am a keen admirer of Singapore's urban landscape :P

Count the number of heads!

Taken after the concert. (Unfortunately, we weren't able to capture Yi Sheng's animated jumping during the curtain call due to copyright laws. (?). Anyway, great job pulling the chair Yi Sheng!)

Ain't they pretty???

Pretty dark though. Nonetheless, our spirits were beaming with the glow of school pride!

That's all for today. Please return to your web-surfing activities quietly.

Happy "holidays".
