Living without the Internet

I AM FINALLY CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET!

it all happened on monday night (the night before SMO)... my PW was having an online discussion.. meeting started late. i went online for abt an hour. the meeting started for abt 10 min when suddenly, i was disconnected from the internet.. tried to connect again but failed.. sigh..... couldnt discuss pw.

called singtel the next day (tuesday). did whatever they told me to do but still couldnt connect to the net. they said they'll send someone over to check on thursday.

and so i lived without the internet from mon night till today.. thankfully, i had to go for the Audio Visual Seminar in sch on wednesday and thursday... dont have to keep thinking of checking my email. didnt have time to use comp in sch though.. and for AVS, i got lots of Pizza Hut vouchers valid till 30june.. so maybe we can have class outing at Pizza Hut after block tests :)

apparently due to the lift upgrading project in hougang, the internet server (or something) was somehow affected and quite a couple of broadband users in my neighbourhood were affected.

anyway, i checked my email inbox today and found 20new msgs... wow! and the first person who talked to me online was zhihui. he asked, " you didnt go for band concert meh?"... obviously i didnt go.... but i did buy 2 tickets from SD... better than zhihui, buy already dont want to go...

its kinda funny that my grp is doing on the over reliance on electronic entertainment etc.. and i am suddenly forced to "unplug"... hee thankfully i am not really dependent on the internet...oh well... must apologise to my pw mates for missing the discussion that day.. and for those who are visiting this blog, kindly help my group do this survey . much appreciated!!

happy hols :)

SMO again

Ok, after 1 day of comments, a few updated answers...

14) 162 (Confirmed by Wei Zhong's programming)
23) 248 (More or less confirmed, by Wei Zhong's programming again)

As for question 13, it is CONFIRMED as well...

See? The fact that I posted up tentative/confirmed answers for almost every question shows something about... ingenuity *cough cough*... and the obcenities that follow shows... plain stupidity...

That's all...

SMO: How stupidity cancels out ingenuity

OK... so, amid all the confusion over whose answers are correct and whose are wrong, I took some time to compile everything and put it up here... these answers are either obtained by the majority or just my own answers...

1) 93640 (My own answer, but likely to be correct)
Method: Split into different cases and WHACK.

2) 3 (Again, my own answer, not sure if correct, but sounds correct enough =P)
Method: Hard to describe, but there are 45 pairs of students, so 90 problems solved, but each student solves only 3, so only 30 problems actually, so means you triple-count at least 1 problem, so answer is 3. Convincing?

3) 66666 (Stupid me...)
Method: Just WHACK. Stupid me, can win $100 MAC dollars in <15mins, can't do this correctly...

4) 99999 (So lame...)
Method: Prime factorization...

5) 2008 (Confirmed)
Method: I whacked it out, but you can use recursive sequences... anyway, p(x)=x^2+10x+8.

6) 4 (I proved it just now, but stupid me, read the question wrongly)
Method: Connect CD, DE. Triangles ACB, ADC and AED are similar.

7) 135 (Proven, and I read the question wrongly again)
Method: Sine rule, and all your double angle formulas. Anyway, AD=6, the rest is easy.

8) 2 (Proven, by me again)
Method: Angles subtended by same chord are equal. Using angle-chasing, BD=ID, hence angle IBQ is right angle. Then BQ*IB = IQ*BP for obvious reasons and so on...

9) 1 (Proven as well)
Method: Triangles DEC and CEA are similar. Triangles ABC and ACD are also similar. Done.

10) 99 (Wei Quan said, seconded by me... after SMO... another question wrong again...)
Method: Listing the worse-case scenario. Which is {1, 12, 23, 34, 45, 56, 67, 78, 89, 99}. Done.

11) 2645 (Confirmed)
Method: Split into different cases that involve different positions of '4'. Then use P&C.

12) 3024 (Confirmed)
Method: P&C, girls 1st, guys later...

13) 1611 (Confirmed)
Method: The same old thing. Split into different cases and WHACK.

14) 162 (Not too sure, but should be confirmed)
Method: Same as question 13...

15) 11250 (Confirmed, ARGH I got it right, then I bloody freaking @#$%&F***ING!!! CHANGED it. Which shows the exact meaning of the title of this post... )
Method: Prime factorization. Twice.

16) 500 (Confirmed, but stupid me, added 1 for fun, now got 1 mark deducted)
Method: The general solution for this problem is to... go read your past year papers. OK, Zhe Wei says it's Legendre's theorem. Looks like he did mug.

17) 67 (May have calculation error, but otherwise should be confirmed)
Method: Binomial expansion, obviously. Find a4, find a3, solve.

18) 19 (Confirmed)
Method: Binomial expansion again. nCk + nC(k+1) = (n+1)C(k+1), and nCn = (n+1)C(n+1) = 1. So find a4, find a3, solve.

19) 6024 (Another example which shows what the title of this post means... I got the method, then I got careless, stupid me)
Method: Expand (a+b+c+d+e)^3. Simplify. Also, be reminded that -a = b+c+d+e. Done.

20) 10 (Confirmed)
Method: WHACK. The sequence repeats itself... Every now and then *evil grin*

21) 40312 (Not confirmed)
Method: Are the only numbers which do not satisfy the criteria 12345678, 23456781, 34567812, 45678123, 56781234, 67812345, 78123456 and 81234567? If so I'm done. If not I'm dead.

22) 94 (Not confirmed, but likely to be correct)
Method: Didn't exactly prove it, but it's quite clear that that the function is symmetric about the line x=2005. Hence f(x) = A(x-2005)^4 + B (x-2005)^2 + C. Find A, B and C, whack the rest and solve.

23) ??? (Anyone has any idea?)
Method: Programming perhaps?

24) 521 (Confirmed by Zhe Wei and Wei Quan)
Method: Find f(1), f(0) and f(-1). Remember that if f(x) passes through (a,b) then f-inverse(x) passes through (b,a). Whack and solve.

25) 2287 (Confirmed)
Method: List them down and whack them out.

So... your stupid C-rep always finds his mistakes AFTER he hands in his paper... now that he's at home, he can "go home cry"...

Alternatively, he should bang his head on the wall hard for being such a careless boy... Did 23, 7 wrong...

You know, it feels just like knowing the fact that you didn't win any award for the beautiful SIMC poster that you had worked on for a month...

EOM stuff

hey all,

i'm assuming you don't go to 6h's blog, so here's what (i assume) we're supposed to have read:

[courtesy of 6h's blog]

[start quote]

Hi guys,
I'm assuming 6K reads this as well, so I'm posting it here. Some notes on writing EOM.

1) Organise material in such a way that all content requirements are met. (Students may use continuous prose, bulleted points, elaborated tables & charts or a mix of these.)

When evaluating material (EOM) and ideas, a good researcher is likely to consider the following areas:

a) The writer  who is he/she/it (an organization)? What is/are the author’s profession/qualifications/credibility? Does he/she have a bias/an agenda? What is the author’s aim in writing the material?
b) The source  Can the source be relied on for credibility? Where was it found? When was it written? Why was it written? For whom was it written?
c) The argument, reasons, assumptions made  Do you accept/reject them (some assumptions carried in the source material) and why? Do they support your opinions/ideas? In what way do they support your ideas? Or do they force you to reconsider your opinions/ideas? If so, what modifications can you make/propose?
d) Relevance and/or usefulness to your project  Can the information offered be used to further/advance your project? Does it offer a comparison (different context [?] comparison and ideas) that can be useful to highlight or underscore the key areas of your proposed areas of study?
This last area (d) is particularly useful for Generation of Ideas, while areas (a),(b) and (c) are useful and necessary for Analysis and Evaluation of Ideas

2) Use academic language that is formal, considered and cautious. A list of phrases typically used in academic-style writing is provided for reference. References to a thesaurus may be necessary.

To present the views of others:
X argues/ maintains/ says/ observed/ points out/ suggests/ believes that …
It has been argued /observed/ suggested (by X) that …
In X’s view …
As noted by/ According to X, …

To evaluate support offered for a view:
This is relevant …
… proves/ justifies/ supports/ is consistent with …
… provides strong support that …
This is irrelevant/ a fallacy/ a mistake
… contradicts/ refutes/ conflicts with …
… provides weak support/ telling criticism …

To express agreement:
I agree with X/ X is correct when he says/writes that …
What X says is true/ correct/ fair/ credible/ acceptable …
X may be correct in saying that …

To express disagreement:
X misrepresents the position.
I disagree with/ object to/ reject/ question …
What X says is false/ implausible/ biased/ oversimplified/ unacceptable …
… but/ however/ on the other hand …

To express your own claims/views:
My opinion/view/thesis is that …
The first thing to be considered is …
The facts are …
I am certain/ believe that …
I would argue that …

To support a claim and/or to explain:
… because/ since …
If … then …
The evidence implies/ suggests …
The/My reasons are …

To recommend/ decide:
We should …

The best option is to …

To conclude:
(As can be seen) from the data/ results/ information, it may be concluded that
I conclude/infer that …
Therefore, it follows that …
… proves/ establishes/ demonstrates/ justifies that view that …
… so/ hence/ thus/ consequently/ accordingly …
For this/ that reason …

REMEMBER, use ONE source/material for your evaluation. Hand in the draft 1st week after school re-opens if possible.

have fun with your eoms!:)

SIMC + JTS

O ya, I forgot to feedback about SIMC... in short, I think whoever's judging should stick strictly to the judging criteria... clarity 25% means teams whose posters can't be read from 1 foot away should not be... you know what i mean... and efficiency should be defined clearly, efficiency of what? the optimization of the results, or the computer algorithm? LASTLY, it's called SIMC, M for Mathematics, and not a programming competition of whatever crap...

And also, my last chance to thank all the teachers who have helped us, as well as all others who did the same. For me, special thanks to Zhe Wei, who really went out of his way to provide assistance... O yes, and those photos were not taken by me (except the poster, which was taken like 10 hours after everything ended), obviously, since I was either emoing or too happy...

OK, JTS. Since it was a trip so i-duno-what Sushi, and Joel was attending, the expected became inevitable... now for the photos I took...

Joel can't wait to get in to eat...

And when he did, the plates were stacked... high...

Higher...

And even higher...

I strongly suspect that if we stayed on longer, the pile would hit the ceiling...

Sorry for the few photos, got affected by MS's emo-ness and the fact that she broke our alliance to make it a 3-on-1 battle in blockus which I obviously lost badly...

Jackie

JTS

hi 6k!

ok.. shall apologise for being so emo today... sigh. result of too much MATHEMATICS and too little sleep.. must be the Pre-SMO Syndrome. felt slightly better now after a 1 hr nap :) hope you all werent too affected... very pai seh and sorry... welfare rep will try to care for the class welfare first before her own welfare.. must thank yongquan for his very PAU-werful jokes.. did cheer me up for a few minutes :)

anyway, like what jeremy said to everyone, hope you all enjoyed JTS today. today's gathering was pretty short... no idea what happened in the end. seniors and some juniors left early, then langston, jian hua, zhao dan, yuqun and i left. only jia guang, hui min, joel and jeremy stayed to continue playing...

since i was not in a gd mood this afternoon, i didnt take many pics.. and those that i took werent very nice. but still here are the photos:

when everyone started playing Blokus and Quarto after lunch, all that C-rep could say was: I WANT TO PLAY POOL............

Blokus!!!

only lang is interested in posing for the photo... one poorly taken photo (sorry)

still playing quarto.. an even worse photo.. (sorry again)

look how happy they are!!! one of the few decent photos

zhao dan trying to get c-rep to cheer up...
all right, that's abt it... i think c-rep and SD took photos as well.....enjoy the hols!! in the meantime, i guess we can look forward to gems and smtp outing after block tests...
jia you!!!

SIMC: Fun, joy, sorrow, regrets, sweat, feedback...

Well, to participate in an international competition is by no means common (the same goes for being exempted from lessons for 1 whole week), so I shall talk about everything I can remember here, and hope you guys can endure this super-long post... Shall not talk too much about day 1 (tuesday), since it's all been mentioned already...

DAY 2 @ NUSHSoMaS/NUS High (21 May, Wednesday) The day of judging for the pre-site challenge as well as the release of the question for the on-site challenge... SO, as mentioned in 1 of my previous posts, I was feeling pretty confident of our team's chances of winning some nice award... and hearing about the fact that Miss Lim released the class 15 mins early added to my "high" mood... maybe that was why it felt a lot worse when we didn't. I guess it was really hard on my team, since we had put in 1 whole month of effort (not to mention the late nights) to do up the poster... BESIDES...

HOW COULD YOU BEAR NOT TO GIVE ANY AWARD TO SUCH A NICE POSTER?!?!

Moreover, we thought that we had already fulfilled all of the judging criteria... and as I walked past all some of the other groups' 1st award-winning posters, I can't help but feel a sense of injustice... Extra small fonts, "not-so-optimized" methods and the like... it was really bad, the more effort you put in, the worse you'll feel... Sore loser you can call me, but I guess you'll probably feel the same if you were me...

Nevertheless, congratulations to Yongquan, Yuhan and Xiaorui (from 6H) who won 1st award, and the high sch team who won 2nd award. And as if to rub it in, the organizers announced the awardees right before the poster exhibition, which made it all the worse as everyone flocked to YQ's poster and all dao-ed me... So i was just standing there, waiting for anyone who got attracted by the title of my poster enough to come (and looked after the laptop as well)... And of course, no one did.

And naturally, Yongquan got interviewed (and always at times when I was beside him), again, and again, AND AGAIN... was getting real jealous haha... Actually, I did get interviewed just before the release of the on-site challenge... Guess how they identified who to interview? "Hwa Chong right? Which team didn't win a prize?" SEE, they really rub it in... Luckily I still managed to keep my fury at not winning an award down and told them we would try as hard as we could to get something... And it paid off... later...

Oh yes, in the afternoon, they also took us for a small tour to PSA... It was then when Mr Yeo asked me how we fared... And I, feeling really bad, still managed to inject a bit of lameness in my reply: "YQ 1st award, high sch 2nd award, we got 3rd award..."... how funny... but it was the best I could do... Later, they released the questions for the on-site challenge. As expected, it had something to do with optimizing the way of berthing ships... BUT WHY WOULD I CARE? I just screwed up the bloody pre-site challenge, why would I fare any better this time... See? How cruel it was to release the results so early...

DAY 3 @ NUSHSoMaS/NUS High (22 May, Thursday)
A short break from the campus that held so many bad memories for me... But there was no time to enjoy, we had to make full use of the day to work on our on-site challenge (yes, despite all the injustice, I had to put all those feelings aside) and churn out a powerpoint, algorithms if possible and a script... And it was not helped by the fact that we were changing classrooms every now and then, there was no aircon, and Wu Hong from 7B could not communicate online with us due to the boarding sch cutting off internet connection, and our algo king Zhe Wei was having long lessons...

Nevertheless, we managed to come up with what we wanted to present, and we had also decided that we should focus on more computer programming and clarity and ignore all the crap about mathematical principles (seeing that it got us nowhere in our poster, and even Wang Tengyao said the on-site challenge problem was a TYPICAL programming question) so we started working on it at night... it was then when some heartless guy (the CT rep actually) sent me this message: "IMPORTANT: CHECK YOUR EMAIL AND DOWNLOAD THE TRAVEL DECLARATION FORM. PRINT AND SUBMIT COMPLETED FORMS TOMORROW." Argh had to make me worry about getting the form into Mrs Loh's pigeonhole by 5pm when I'm busy enough...

And so we worked, Zhe Wei came online to help do up my program, Li Wen (my other teammate obviously) was doing up powerpoint while I was desperately trying to think of what else we left out... actually I was just waiting for everything to come to me so that I can compile, just like a C++ compiler HAHA =P

DAY 4 @ NUSHSoMaS/NUS High (23 May, Friday)
We were still working... I'm putting this here cos strictly speaking, a new day comes after midnight... after a very long while, Li Wen went to sleep at 4+am, Zhe Wei finished 1 of my algos at 5am... when things cropped up. Zhe Wei's mum forced him to go sleep, ARGH... WHY THE HELL IS HEAVEN TREATING ME LIKE THIS!?!? was the 1st thing that came to my mind... In any case, I still managed to finish everything I had to do at 6.30am, and so I didn't sleep a wink...

Then, in NUS High, my team faced a very important decision: to scrap the method due to a lack of algos or present it but say we don't have an algo. We decided to include the 2nd method in our presentation. I guess it paid off well. However, to make matters worse, we found that our 1st algo gives erroneous results when we used other data sets... What to do? Embellish the errors, show the judges the more "accurate" results and harp on it, talking about the speed of the algo and things like that. It paid off as well.

So we went through the 1st 2 presentations pretty smoothly (we had to present 3 times, each to 1 judge), explained everything very well, though I was on the verge of breaking down... then came our last presentation. I was feeling slightly more confident, if not even more tired...

It was then when someone smsed me, and helped to boost my mood a little bit: "tutorial in E-block classroom..."
Uh oh, looks like I forgot to 交代后事 thoroughly... O well, it was a good laugh for our team (but not so funny for Mrs Tham I guess)...

And we got lucky! Our 3rd judge was 1 of the 3 who had judged our poster as well, and he was firing a lot of questions at us but was very impressed with us... and so for the presentation, he did the same, we replied rather impressively, and he felt that we were really good... YAY! And now, for some sleep...

My mood got better as the day passed on, after hearing that Mrs Tham released the class 30min early, and that YQ managed to "illegally" transfer all other groups' presentations into his group's laptop... However, I was still really tired, which explains why I nodding off during the talks at IHPC... I wanted to listen, but... anyway it was quite nice there, the stuff was really high-tech... And then it ended. Now I can sleep=)

DAY 5 @ NUSHSoMaS/NUS High (24 May, Saturday)
The prize presentation to end it all. Was wondering what would happen to me if we won something, and what would happen if we didn't... Conclusion: I would go mad if I won, and the same would happen if I didn't. DAMN, i'll go mad in any case...

And they interviewed Yongquan again. Wonder how many times they must do it right in front of me ARGHHHHHH... but the questions got worse. "How was the food?" was 1 of them...

Anyway, the ceremony started. A lot of people obviously...

And each school had to send a representative to collect the COPs (Certs of Participation) for their schools, so poor me was isolated from the rest of my team and dragged away to sit down in front...

It's clear who is happy and who is not...

And of course, I had to endure the agony of watching them give out the prizes for the pre-site challenge, it was really bad, felt like crying... And my last chance for glory came. Presentation for the on-site challenge award winners. So... they gave out the commendation awards 1st, in alphabetical order. They missed our team out. DAMN, that's it, I'll end up empty-handed... BUT... eh there're distinction awards! AH HA, 1 last chance, since I doubt we can be winners... And how heaven plays tricks on me...

A only... B only... looks like I'll have to wait... Hwa Chong Institution... O well, at least our school did get a prize... Wait, team 2? TEAM 2? TEAM 2? I stood up in shock. Am I dreaming?! Turning my head around, I saw Wu Hong and Li Wen leaving their seats and walking towards the stage. OMG, that's it, I'm not dreaming, IT IS US!!! WE WON A PRIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE WON SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which partly explains why we took so long to get up on stage when they announced our team's name... It took a superhuman effort to supress all the joy in me and the urge to start jumping and yelling all over the stage... instead, my mouth was slightly trembling as I walked up the stage and tried to controlled my walking speed, lest I started running to the trophy and knocked the GOH over. When I saw the team trophy in the GOH's hands, I was like "OMG it's gonna be mine! And it's so beautiful!" But when I got it, my thoughts changed to "What the it's so freaking heavy..." So I was too busy smiling at the camera and thinking about all this that I forgot to bow much...

Later, Yongquan and team got up on stage too. Gotcha, everyone from HCI college section got it, haha! Nevertheless, RJC were the winners, but who cared! WE WON A PRIZE!!!

When the ceremony finally ended, all hell nearly broke loose from me, was in jubliated shouts of "We won a prize!" and "I didn't sacrifice my sleep for nothing!" and things like that and I think my team was overjoyed too... And as we went for refreshments, our appetites increased significantly too, we all had at least double helpings... and it reminded me of Joel again...

And more photos...

ME!!! And my team who made it all possible... Oops I look a bit too tall and crooked... NOtice that the plaques really shine...

The big winners from Hwa Chong with their award-winning poster... See? It's labelled "First Award"...

Let us not forget the high school team...

All of us! Look at all those things that we won...

The team trophies are really beautiful...

What's everyone looking at? Hai ya, the camera again, it's yet another group photo-taking session...

Oh yes, we were all eating right in front of YQ's poster... and we invaded other booths as well, oops...

That's all! A rather happy ending I guess, though I'm still not too happy about what happened to my poster...

Holidays.

And so I woke up at almost 12noon today, woken up by a call from Jia Guang announcing his SIMC on-site challenge result - getting distinction. Wasn't sure what awards were available for grabs though, or anything else cus I had just woken up and well was groggy. Had slept for a total of 10.5 hrs or so...more than the 10hrs i had slept in total over the past 4 days.

Its like all of a sudden, I can afford to find time to just sit around doing nothing without much consequence. Which I did, and it wasn't a good thing. Ended up doing a lot of reflecting and stuff like that ... and lamenting over the past ... and having a lot of regrets. My life has always been one littered with regrets aplenty, but to face all of them at once ... I feel kind of disillusioned and depressed.

Don't have anything else to blog about, so I guess the post ends here...

SISPEC + Art Fest

SISPEC was FUN!!! an awesome experience... after all, i wont have the chance to handle a real weapon and do live firing since i wont be going for NS. even though the weather was quite hot, i guess everyone still enjoyed the trip. personally, i liked the live firing best. some weapons were heavy though... anyway, second best part would be the food!! its like a mini buffet... eat all u want... should have taken more and we can have army food for jts. oh and part of 6k took photo with an army guy.. maybe yuqun can post it on the blog :)

oh well. reached school at 6pm++ decided to stay for art fest... didnt eat dinner cos cca mates finished eating by the time i went back. anyway, i decided to stay back cos:
1. support yuting (harmonica), zhi hui (choir) and jeremy (band)
2. if i go home at that time, there'll definitely be a massive jam and i'll probably have to wait at least 20 min for my bus... might as well just stay back for concert and go home later

turnout for concert was quite ok... abt 2/3 audi filled. quite a lot of parents...

all right. shall stop here. 2 more days and then holidays!!!

mui :)

SIMC + Fun

Hmm so if you guys have not heard, today was SIMC opening ceremony, and we needed to set up our posters... personally, I think that they're madder than us about cubes... logo made of cubes, T-shirt full of cubes, banners containing pictures of cubes all over the place, inside and outside the school... Oh, and they rained giant styrofoam cubes on us during the opening ceremony...

Anyway, a few interesting things on our posters... particularly Yongquan's and Yuhan's (same group)...

A few familiar names on our posters...

My group got pretty good results... 2nd or 3rd best result among all participants... and it's 100% generated from systematic computer algorithms...

Yongquan's results didn't sound too good at 1st... Since it was only "satisfactory"... BUT...

WHAT THE HELL!!! YOU CALL THIS "SATISFACTORY" ONLY?!?!?! (Btw this was the best result among all 57 teams)

And to cap it all off...

Really not niao... But I wish I had that line in my poster too... The program took 9+mins to give me a solution that every single algo of mine managed to beat... and the solution time: Instantaneous. *Faint*

And after all the rehearsals, I came back... to play the board games that we bought from our winnings from the hundredaire game with Zhe Wei, Langston and Mui Suan... and don't forget who won the money haha...

So... a 2-player quorridor game can be fun, but a 4-player quorridor game... is a dark world of politics, collusion, biasness, and... madness...

The results of everyone sabotaging one another...

And the outcome: Langston got too confused that he didn't realize...

OOPS...

Anyway, when the sun rises the SIMC participants will be hauled into the battlefield to slog it out with the other teams, wish us luck!

Siesta Fiesta

Heavens! A new pandemic has struck the once idyllic land of Sixkay. This curious virulent strain of Slepen tightus possesses an exceptionally somniferous quality. Symptoms include drowsiness and frequent dozing off, especially during - what the victims perceive as - humdrum lectures. Sleep is accompanied with what senior medical researchers (at the Institute of 07S6K) term hypnotic Simple Harmonic Motion of the head.

Looks like this infectious strain has been caught by many susceptible 6Kers...oh my...

...gasp! It's worse that I thought! Even the (ex) A/CT rep has succumbed to this disease.

This aggressive bug has shockingly spread to our previously-presumed sanitary class bench! (Great. More work for the estate manager to decontaminate the entire vicinity of 100 kilometres.)
Even our usually-boisterous C-rep and Welfare rep have been plagued with lethargy, langour and lassitude.

Sigh. Decadence has set in once again.

Something Interesting

In today's Straits Times xD

A scandalous photo to tide you guys over till my next post...

The title says it all, really. The following snapshot was commissioned by our dear Yuqun.

Hmm I wonder if you can recognise those two unnamed individuals studying together in a secluded corner of the library...

(No offence, Yongquan and Huimin.)
Oops!

Balloon-flavoured chewing gum

Hey.

It has truly been a long time since I've last posted on this moribund blog. Hopefully, a few (very outdated) photo commentaries should liven it up!

Here's what we did for PIP last week:
...balloons!
Pfffffftttt....ssssss! Woosh! Pa! (Guess who burst the greatest number of balloons?)

...and after PIP was over, there was the inevitable leftover balloon. Seizing this opportunity, Wei Yang showcases his balloon art talent: With the glint of expertise in his eye, and with the skillful fingers of a neurosurgeon, Wei Yang - like Victor Frankenstein - transforms an ordinary orange piece of rubber into:
this! Yeah. That is what 6Ks do to innocent inflated rubber ellipsoids. If you stare closely at your monitor long enough, you may be able to make out the "xiang"! (and become myopic).
...oh, and there's a chess marathon going in the background btw.
And now, a picture that falls short of nothing other than just plain "sillyness" (to quote Wei Zhong's favourite expression):

Haha. You don't get to see Wei Yang chewing a balloon any other day!
(And who says that 6Kers are all about mugging?)
