11th National Olympiad in Informatics Award Ceremony

12th April. Exactly one week after the 11th NOI, held last Saturday. The day of reckoning had finally arrived.

The day didn't start off too fine though. Left home early today 'cause of a bad experience last week involving an extremely SLOW driver. Today's driver was significantly faster, and when the bus neared the destination bus stop, I still had about half an hour left. What would I do with so much extra time? Perhaps reading the Newsweek I'd brought just in case? But of course, the bus driver had other plans in store for me. He shot past the bus stop WITHOUT STOPPING! So poor me spent an additional 10 minutes walking back...

Then, we were given a talk on the solutions to the task questions, before being released for a sumptous break at 11, after which we were given a 'propoganda' talk on the career opportunities in infocomm, during which there was *ahem* some promotion of NUS's School of Computing.

Finally the big moment arrived at 12. As Joel and I expected, having messed up badly, we ended up with bronze =(, hence proving the "conclusion that we suck". The PRCs did better, but failed to match the legacies set by people of the rank of Wei Quan, Benjamin Choi or Wang Tengyao. All three of them - Gu Siyuan, Zhao Dan, and Sun Shuo (6A guy) got silver. So...obviously Hwa Chong 'GNA' screwed up for top jc. The accolades went to NJC and RJC (mainly PRC, Viet power, esp. NJC). High School side ended up with 4 silver 1 bronze. Made me and Joel feel even more zibei =( =( =(...if only I had been less careless...then mabbe i would've gotten silver too....Fortunately, High School side managed to get runner-up for top secondary schools, losing to RI.

-Epilogue-
So, GGfied, we went out of the LT to the lunch they'd prepared. It was a bit of a consolation. At least we got to eat rather delicious tasting food. And I think Joel sought solace in food, ingesting a seemingly significant portion...I think he's gonna shoot back to 90kg, at this rate.

The story doesn't end here. After sleeping on the bus on the way home, ran into Lang, who apparently just returned from a solo shopping trip to sheng siong, judging from the plastic bags he was holding - damn meng sia?. The first thing he said? "Why you go school today?"
